Kpop Group Weki Meki on Second Trip to Philippines
South Korean girl group Weki Meki (위키미키) returned to the Philippines for their second performance in Manila.
The eight members Ji Soo-yeon, Kim Do-yeon, Choi Yoo-jung, Sei, Elly, Lua So, Rina and Lucy lauded the high energy of Filipino fans.
“The crowd has always been like this. Now that we’re back, you guys are even wilder,” they said with the help of an interpreter. They further commented that “the energy of Filipino fans is out of this world”.
Lua So, who can also speak English, said that the group appreciates the Filipino fans’ support. Weki Meki first performed in Manila last year.
During a question-and-answer with their fans, the girls claimed they would love to try Filipino food, giving “karekare, sinigang and adobo” as examples of dishes they had heard about.
Most members mentioned Cebu as the place in the Philippines they would love to eventually visit. “We want to go scuba diving, and we want to see Kawasan Falls,” they said.
Among the Tagalog words they displayed knowledge of were “ate” (elder sister) and “mabuhay” (the local equivalent of Banzai).
Eight lucky fans were picked to play a game with their idols. Despite wearing white clothes, the girls readily joined the game, feeding their partner fans with spaghetti while on a blindfold.
The group performed around seven songs, including “Picky Picky” which they just released this year.
All they performed were dance songs. Ji Soo-yeon, however had to remain seated due to a leg injury.
Weki Meki was formed by South Korean entertainment company Fantagio in 2017.
